Information on baldness / hair loss
information
Losing our head of hair is something many men, and
a few women, face during their adult life. In fact more
than 30% of men face balding before old age, and for
some it can start as early as their twenties, resulting
in poor self image. We all strive to look our best,
facing yourself in the mirror every morning isn't fun
when you're going bald.
But we're here to help. Information on this site and
the products we recommend can help you come to terms
with this common syndrome. |
Hair today, gone tomorrow
Hair comes and goes, constantly dying, falling out
and renewing itself throughout our lifespan. Unfortunately,
as we grow older hormonal changes inhibit the natural
process of hair reproduction, leading to male and female
pattern baldness. Over combing, poor nutrition and hair
care, skin diseases and stress also exasperate the situation. |
Of the estimated 100,000 strands of hair on
the your head, at least 10,000 are in the process
of dying and falling out. Roughly 100 a day come
loose and it takes up to six months for a follicle
to produce a new hair. |

Ultimately the psychological effects
can be quite disturbing and those affected resort to
all sorts of combative methods including combing existing
hair over the bald patches, and using hair pieces, transplants
and growth stimulators. Some simply shave their head.
With no universally accepted method of prevention and
cure, the remedies can sometimes be costly.
In this series of articles we've attempted to put
your concerns at ease by explaining the root causes
of baldness, how effective some of the common remedies
are, suggested preventative methods, and the costs involved.
